Cornelia Funke's novels have so far been published in the U.S. by Chicken House--an imprint of Scholastic. A new deal has been made between the writer and Little, Brown Books. Her new titles, Reckless and The Knight and the Boy, will be published under this house.

“Cornelia Funke is that rare breed of writer in the tradition of the master storytellers from the Brothers Grimm and Charles Dickens to Roald Dahl and Philip Pullman,” said Megan Tingley, senior v-p and publisher at Little, Brown BFYR, in a statement. “We are honored to be the new U.S. publishing home of this magnificent talent.”

New Article on Cornelia Funke
Posted by Voldy on November 11, 2008

A new article was posted on various news websites, which includes a lot of interesting information on Cornelia. The article contains quotes from Ms. Funke herself, where she talks about her characters, books, and also two current books she's writing--The Boy and the Knight, for children, and an adult novel entitled Reckless.

"You will have dwarfs and unicorns and fairies but in a way that you maybe haven't seen them before," she laughs. "And you will have gingerbread houses, which are quite scary things."

Official Synpopsis of 'Inkheart' Film
Posted by Voldy on October 12, 2008

Warner Bros. has sent InkWeb the official synopsis for the Inkheart film.

Based on the best-selling book by Cornelia Funke, “Inkheart” is a fantasy adventure that sends a father and daughter on a quest through worlds both real and imagined.

Mortimer “Mo” Folchart (Brendan Fraser) and his 12-year-old daughter, Meggie (Eliza Hope Bennett), share a passion for books. What they also share is a unique gift for bringing characters from books to life when they read aloud. But there is a danger: for every character brought to life from a book, a real person disappears into its pages.

Inkdeath's Emotional Ending
Posted by Voldy on October 09, 2008

The Washington Post has posted a very interesting article, which talks about the emotional level of Inkdeath.

"I always meant it for an older audience," said the German-born writer, who lives in California. "Inkdeath" is the last book in her "Inkheart" trilogy.

"I think children should start with 'Inkheart' when they're about 8, move on to 'Inkspell' when they're 11 and wait until they're 13 for 'Inkdeath,' " she says.

The article continues with more quotes from Cornelia, who says that Inkdeath is "a shadow of what will come in life".

Telegraph Interviews Cornelia Funke
Posted by Voldy on September 12, 2008

The British newspaper website Telegraph has a new interview with Cornelia Funke. In it, Cornelia talks about her gift as a storyteller, her favorite books and authors, and touches up on the Inkworld trilogy as well as other books she is writing. On finishing Inkdeath, Cornelia said:

...I was very relieved and satisfied, when I had written the last line. I had spent so many years in the Inkworld that I was eager to meet new characters and have them take me to other places. I hadn't been sure whether this story would be willing to close with the third book, but it did. Of course with a world like that you never know whether it will tempt you back one day, but for now it let me go, which I am very grateful for, and I am deep into another one already, which is quite different.

Going Away
Posted by Voldy on July 07, 2008

The title explains it all, I suppose. XD Tomorrow, I'll be leaving for Europe, to visit some family. I won't return until late August, and as I am the sole owner and webmaster of InkWeb, I'm sorry to say that there will be little to no updates during that time.

I'm not giving up on the site or shutting it down or anything; it is just that I will not be able to update it regularly whilst I am gone. SO, until then, goodbye, everyone! And make sure you don't forget about InkWeb during the time I'll be gone. =)

Biography of Cornelia Funke Being Written
Posted by Voldy on June 17, 2008

CorneliaFunke.de and CorneliaFunkeFans.com are reporting that a biography on Cornelia Funke is being written. It is entitled Cornelia Funke – Spionin der Kinder, which translates to Cornelia Funke – The Children's Spy. The author of the biography is Hildegunde Latsch—Cornelia's godmother and favorite aunt.

On coming up with the idea for writing the biography, Latsch said:

"In my dream, I saw myself signing a children's book at a reading. I remember that in my dream I wished to know this book's title – but the pages were blank. I thought about this and realized that I wanted to write about Cornelia's books. I told Cornelia about this and she said: 'If you want to write about me, that's okay. But beware! This will be quite a boring business.'"

The biography is set to be released in Germany this October. No news yet on a release date for an English translation. Stay tuned!
